Ngày 2/10, đại diện Trung tâm Y tế huyện Ninh Giang, cho biết bệnh nhi được người thân sơ cứu khoảng 15 phút rồi chuyển đến trung tâm y tế huyện trong tình trạng ngừng tim, ngừng thở, mạch cảnh rời rạc.
Ê kíp gồm 10 y bác sĩ tại các khoa Hồi sức cấp cứu, khoa Mắt – Răng hàm mặt – Tai mũi họng, nỗ lực lấy ra dị vật là viên kẹo dẻo màu đỏ, giúp khai thông đường thở cho bé. Cùng lúc, các biện pháp cấp cứu ngừng tuần hoàn, ép tim được tiến hành.
Khoảng 10 phút sau, bé có nhịp tim đập trở lại nhưng không đáp ứng được với thuốc, nhiều lần xuất hiện ngừng tim. Gần hai giờ từ khi vào viện, gia đình xin đưa bé về nhà, qua đời tại nhà riêng, hôm 25/9.
Theo bác sĩ Trung tâm Y tế huyện Ninh Giang, dị vật kẹt trong đường thở có thể gây khó thở dữ dội và tử vong ngay trong vòng vài phút nếu vật này bít tắc hoàn toàn khí quản. Trường hợp dị vật bít tắc một phần khí quản, di chuyển trong khí quản hoặc bít hoàn toàn phế quản gốc một bên sẽ gây suy hô hấp, tím tái, thiếu oxy kéo dài dẫn đến tổn thương não.
Bác sĩ khuyến cáo khi có người hóc dị vật, cần ngay lập tức cấp cứu đường thở bằng biện pháp Heimlich – dùng tay gây ra một áp lực mạnh dưới cơ hoành để đẩy dị vật gây tắc khí quản ra khỏi đường hô hấp trên. Gọi cấp cứu 115 nhanh chóng đưa nạn nhân đến bệnh viện để được xử trí hợp lý, chính xác.
